MATERIAL

MATERIAL PRESENCE

Each material receives a macro surface, short philosophy, relevant works, fabrication information and care considerations where appropriate.

STONE

Geological history remains present. Veining, porosity and variation are not corrected into artificial uniformity.

BRONZE

Mass, patina, reflection and permanence become part of the work’s physical authority.

WOOD

Grain, fracture, resistance and evidence of carving remain visible where the work requires them.

TERRACOTTA

Earth records pressure, firing, surface and touch.

PAINT

Colour, opacity, atmosphere, edge and surface are built into pictorial space.

Fabrication ethics

ACE distinguishes artistic authorship from specialist fabrication. Where foundries, stone workshops, carvers, framers or other technical partners participate in production, fabrication remains subject to ACE artistic direction and quality control.
Concept images, studies and visualisations are identified as such. A completed physical artwork is represented as completed only when it exists in its intended material form.
